Stickerdrops helps local NHS staff fly high with fundraising sticker campaign

Upon discovering that frontline healthcare staff at their local hospital were self-funding additional items of PPE, StickerDrops owner Dave Fowler took matters into his own hands, producing supportive stickers and donating all the profits to the hospital’s fundraising charity.

Employing the popular, adapted NHS logo that incorporates the superman motif, Fowler artworked a design and using the company’s Mimaki CJV150-130 printer/cutter, produced the kiss and die-cut easy-peel decals on matte vinyl. Available on its stickerdrops.co.uk website, the company is already bolstering the coffers at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester, with all profits from sales of the 160mm long decals helping to boost the fundraising efforts that support purchases for the staff that need to be actioned quickly.
 
“We were saddened to hear that, upon the adoption of full PPE, staff on the hospital’s maternity ward were unable to use their existing lanyards to hold their pass cards,” recalls Fowler. “They personally sourced retractable belt clip reels and we assisted them by supplying a small printed and cut branding sticker, but it got us thinking about how we could help them out a bit more.”
 
Stickerdrops, and its fellow business Cocoa Media, invested in Mimaki print and cut hardware several years ago through authorised Mimaki reseller partner, printMAX as a means to add additional revenue streams to the business. Now a key element of the operation, Stickerdrops stickers can be found worldwide, used in applications as varied as deep-sea dive tank marking, promotional decals for scooter clubs and bespoke food and beverage product labelling.
 
“We previously bought digital print in from trade suppliers but have found it’s opened many doors for us having it in-house,” confirms Fowler. “There’s no denying that we’re all in a very challenging situation at the moment, but we’re pleased to be responding to the needs of local businesses that are in turn, finding new ways of working.”
 
One such example is the fishing fleet in the company’s hometown, Weymouth. With limited national distribution available for its catch, the fish merchants have teamed up and operate a local service for individual customers to buy their produce. “This quick change required new signage, social distancing markings and vehicle liveries and we were very happy to respond to their creative thinking,” Fowler concludes.
 
NHS stickers are available to buy online and are a great way to show support, with Fowler summing the project up perfectly. “We wanted to say thank you, raise funds and show how we feel about our frontline NHS staff.”
