Printing for Education & Healthcare Settings: Mimaki inks pass the health & safety test!
When producing print for more sensitive user environments, such as the education and healthcare sectors, ink plays a highly important role. Mimaki is a manufacturer committed to developing the most technologically advanced as well as the safest inks and has made an extensive research and development investment over the years to ensure its inks meet the most stringent of environmental and safety criteria.
In order to give reassurance to its print customers and the general public, Mimaki has gained GREENGUARD Gold certification on many of its inks. The GREENGUARD Gold Certification demands strict criteria and considers safety factors to ensure that a product is acceptable for use in environments such as educational and medical facilities.
GREENGUARD Gold Certification, which was formerly known as GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification, considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals such as children and the elderly.
GREENGUARD Certification requires stringent emissions criteria to be met in addition to verification of numerous other technical requirements before certification can be awarded. After initial certification, on-going testing, documentation, and verification processes are required for demonstration of consistent product performance. It is referenced by both The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Building Rating System.
What this all means for Mimaki users is that it opens up a huge number of potential applications. The volume of print required for the education sector alone is vast and you need the right tools for the job in order to meet their specified requirements, with ink health and safety being top of the list. Having GREENGUARD Gold certification on many of Mimaki’s most popular inks, including SS21 solvent ink and a broad range of the LUS UV inks, furthers the potential for a vast range of print applications covering core sign and graphics requirements, such as signage, banners, health and safety stickers, to the more creative opportunities from printed wallcoverings, flooring and direct-to-object print.
This certification is applicable to inks for many of Mimaki’s key products, including the new UCJV series LED UV printer/cutter, its LED UV flatbeds such as the UJF and JFX series as well as staple sign and graphics printers like the JV and CJV series. It’s also great news for longstanding Mimaki users who may have invested some time ago in hardware, such as the Mimaki JV33 or CJV30, as Mimaki’s SS21 inks are compatible with those products.
