Mimaki’s creativity gets ready for its close-up at Cosmopack and Sign & Digital UK

Mimaki will showcase innovative, eye-opening packaging ideas for the cosmetics industry at Cosmopack in Italy and general packaging and promotional items through its UK and Irish distributor, Hybrid Services Ltd at Sign & Digital UK.

Cosmopack will take place from 17th to 20th March in Bologna, Italy, as part of the 49th edition of Cosmoprof, the leading worldwide event for the professional beauty sector, as well as the cosmetics and wellness industry. In Hall 20, stand C9-D8 Mimaki will present ways to create head-turning cosmetics packaging that combines cost-effective creation of mock-ups and samples with small lot production. Using Mimaki printing technologies; imagery and labelling can be printed directly on cylindrical objects as well as folding cartons and conventional labels that are ready for post-processing.

Faster time to market with no compromises

Stuart Cole; Hybrid’s National Sales Manager – Industrial Products comments, “As brand owners look to deliver regionalised or bespoke campaigns, so the packaging needs to evolve. Mimaki’s solutions – which will also be on show at Sign & Digital UK in Birmingham this April – enable short runs, proofs to original materials and highly creative products to be produced quickly and cost effectively.”

Full range of versatile packaging solutions

During Cosmopack, Mimaki will be producing sample folding cartons, labelling and direct print onto cylindrical objects. Featured solutions will include the new Mimaki UJF-7151plus Production LED UV flatbed printer, a next-generation UV-LED printer that can print on a variety of substrates including plastics, metal, wood, leather and glass up to 710mm x 510mm and up to 153mm thick with exceptional print quality. The machine includes both white ink and clear varnish for creating stunning effects.

Also at Cosmpack will be the Mimaki UJF-3042HG LED flatbed UV printer, which will be equipped with the Kebab option, an additional unit that allows printing on cylindrical objects with a maximum length of 330mm and a diameter of up to 110mm, including glass bottles, sample tubes and many more.

Joining the 3042HG will be its larger sibling, the Mimaki UJF-6042 LED flatbed UV printer which will be working alongside the Mimaki CFL-605RT flatbed cutting plotter as a Print and Cut solution. The UJF-6042 prints on folding carton board and the CFL-605RT cuts the board into shape, creasing it in preparation for folding. This solution is especially suitable for mock-ups and proofing.

This system makes the creation of multiple packaging samples and mock-ups simple and affordable, allowing more creativity in less time during the design process. Combined with Mimaki’s advanced printing technologies, the CFL-605RT is ideal for producing small lots of customised packaging and multiple sample ideas quickly and affordably.

“Leveraging the power of digital print is key to enabling packaging design and production to explore new avenues,” concludes Cole. “Visitors to both exhibitions will see how Mimaki is helping packaging and promotional printing companies to evolve, taking advantage of new opportunities with the latest technology.”
